Letter(s) of Support

Letters of support are encouraged, especially if you have discussed potential research projects with EAGR Faculty Mentors.

A professional letter that describes your past academic or research performance, and/or a letter from an EAGR Faculty Mentor should be emailed to: geroscience@uconn.edu with a subject line of “EAGR letter” by 5:00 pm on February X, 2025.

NOTE:  Applications to other Summer research programs (e.g., UConn SURF, UConn Health HRP, UConn IDEA Grant, UConn McNair Scholars), are encouraged.  Many EAGR Faculty Mentors and host labs participate in multiple undergraduate research programs – students may apply for these other awards at the same time as the EAGR application.  While an EAGR Summer Fellowship stipend cannot be disbursed concurrently with any other stipends, transportation and/or housing may be coordinated among programs.

Criteria for Review and Selection

All UConn EAGR Grant applications will be reviewed and evaluated by UConn faculty with relevant expertise.  Preference will be given to applicants who:

  • Clearly articulate the impact of the work for both the student and the geroscience field
  • Possess a strong academic record
  • Display a genuine interest in research
  • Identify potential mentors to guide their work
  • Propose logical ideas related to a research project

For more information, email Dr. Campellone (kenneth.campellone@uconn.edu – include “EAGR Scholar Program” in subject line).
